Update on Responsibility for Parking Enforcement in Our Area |
||
|
Dear Resident
Following recent conversations with many of you, it has become clear that some residents still believe that Hertfordshire Constabulary are responsible for enforcing yellow lines and other on‑street parking restrictions. We would like to provide clarity on this, as we know parking concerns are a common topic raised within the community. Who is responsible for enforcing parking restrictions?Responsibility for enforcing yellow lines, limited‑waiting bays, and most other on‑street parking restrictions was transferred from Hertfordshire Constabulary to local borough and district councils during the introduction of Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) in the mid‑2000s. This means: Where to report parking concernsFor routine or non‑emergency parking issues, please contact your local borough or district council’s parking team, who are responsible for enforcement.
Further guidance on what the police can and cannot deal with regarding nuisance parking can be found here: Parking issues and abandoned vehicles | Hertfordshire Constabulary
We hope this helps clarify responsibilities and ensures that concerns are directed to the right place for the quickest response.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. | ||
